(this is the classroom that I am learning Spanish. envy me? no, please be jealous!!!)
Today is my 4th day in Buenos Aires. My friend S has finally arrived at Buenos Aires last night. He moved to my hostel this morning and we are now sharing a dorm.
I haven't done any tourist activity yet. Again, I went to have my Spanish class at 10:30. In the middle of my class, the principal came in and told me that he could arrange two additional one-hour lessons on Thu and Fri mornings. I am very happy with that. Because I really enjoy the class, and find it very helpful.
I really enjoy learning Spanish here. Even I know Argentina pronunciation and grammar are different from other Spanish-speaking countries, I still want to learn here. I have not done any sightseeing yet. The only touristy thing I have done so far was to get a sim card in downtown. That's all. But I have a very strong will to stay here. If I were not locked up with the south american itinerary with my friend, I would definitely stay here for longer & postpone other travel plans.
I just love this city so much, much more than anywhere else. I cannot tell the exact reason. Maybe there are too many reasons? I expected BsAs to be a very dangerous and unfriendly city but it turned out BsAs seem to be SAFER than many other European cities I have visited.
Maybe the super high ceiling in every building in San Telmo (the district that i stay in) helps too? Or maybe because it offers good value of money here? Or maybe because I so far have met lots of good, friendly and helpful people here. The hostel staff here is just 300% more helpful and 500% more friendly than those in Australia. My Spanish teacher is REALLY COOL. Very serious but very inspiring at the same time. Not to mention he is quite GOOD LOOKING, haha. Laundry people are nice. Sandwicheria people are nice too. It´s just a "FRIENDLY BUT MORE ECONOMICAL VERSION OF EUROPE".
Ok. In conclusion, I enjoy studying Spanish. I enjoy staying in Buenos Aires. I enjoy staying in Buenos Aires to study Spanish. So. I want to study more spanish in Buenos Aires.
I am thinking to change my RTW ticket. I may shorten my stay in USA. Or I simply take out the whole west coast. I may come back to Buenos Aires to stay for 4 more weeks exclusively for Spanish classes after traveling with my friend, although I have to pay (maybe USD250) for a round trip flight between Santiago and Buenos Aires.
Haven't decided yet. Hehe, after the lessons in Australia, I know the importance of keeping everything flexible. I may change my plan anytime. Let's see.
